The fifth graders spent a week learning about growth mindset.

  • Growth mindset revolves around the following ideas:
    • Everyone is good at Mathematics.
    • Thinking deeply about Mathematics is more important than speed.
    • Mistakes are beautiful!
    • When you believe in yourself, amazing things happen!

We then took these ideas and put them to the test with our STEM challenge. The students were given a bucket full of pencils and were asked to create the tallest possible tower they could with those pencils. The students made many mistakes—and learned from them! Through their mistakes, they learned the best possible structure of the tower. Check out the pictures to see ¬†just how high we were able to build our towers!
